September 26, 2010

Now here’s some serious inspiration, 98 year old French artist Louise Bourgeois and British artist Tracey Emin came together for a stunning fusion of sculpture and painting, presenting a series of prints titled Do Not Abandon Me.

“Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin each confront the theme of emotional dependency and the fear of being separated and abandoned. In Do Not Abandon Me, they explore sexuality, identity, birth, gender and ultimately the need to feel attached to the ‘Other’.” Beautiful…

The prints use a new technique which transfers the dye from Bourgeois’ original gouache drawings onto fabric, Emin then adds text and drawings in black ink.

Do Not Abandon Me will be showing at Carolina Nitsch gallery (New York) until November 13th, 2010.
