// JR Hits The Slums Of Rio

March 22, 2009
by

French street artist and photographer JR uses 28mm lens to photograph female residents of Rio De Janeiro’s biggest slum Morro da Providencia favelas. His technique involves blowing up pictures to enormous sizes and placing them in highly exposed public spaces.  His portraits reveal the strength of these women whom crime and  violent loss of loved ones are part of everyday life.

Check out his hillside installation which he named “28 Millimetres: Women.”
